cast surfing in the game.

Creativity, proper planning and implementing an idea is often overlooked or taken for granted. If you take the time to do some research on the internet on great promotions, trade show ideas, best trade show events, etc. you can sift through a variety of great ideas. Most successful trade show participants have learned that new �interactive� displays can help to gather the crowds which in turn let the sales team explain the service or the product in a passive fashion without being aggressive and �in their face�.
One of the most common mistake trade show exhibitors make:
Trade show team members tend to be too aggressive or obvious � the new trend is parallel to �facebook� or �twitter� where the key word is �socialization selling� and education - to share knowledge rather than to sell... remember that when potential clients face off with trade show personnel that are overly-forward, persistent - they feel bullied. That's not the way you want to do business. Instead, train your trade show sales team to have a �needs - focused� approach. By �engaging� attendees in passive conversation, questioning and listening more than talking, while truly focusing on solving the attendee's problems, you are far more likely to make a sale the attendee is satisfied with.
Remember that the key to proper selling protocol is to follow the five questions
that should be part of every trade show sales conversation:
1) what exactly does the attendee need?
2) do they have problems with their existing suppliers?
3) are they trying to make-do with a product that doesn't exactly fit their needs?
4) perhaps the product works perfectly, but it's too expensive.
Keep your trade show team �social� and high tech interactive with attendees - that can be easily accomplished if you have something in your booth or event that is �interactive� and creates laughter or excitement. A perfect example of this would be an interactive video game that anyone can play for prizes, etc. Make it easy for the participant to win the prize so that others will gather and try as well. Remember, happy and excited attendees are easy to �engage� with.
Marketing at trade shows not just about new products. Sometimes an exhibitor may not have new products to showcase when they are at a trade show. In this case, new methods of trade show marketing for exhibitors must be used. Many analysts believe that businesses should devote at least one third of their total trade show budgets to post-exhibition follow-up. Separate hot leads from those that seemed lukewarm or ambivalent and concentrate on those. Use a lead sheet to collect information on prospective customers who visit the booth. If applicable, send new leads back to the home office every night for a properly and separate trained �follow � up� team rather than those who are at the trade show who will be more than likely �burned out� after their daily tasks.
